‘Kumbha’ and ‘Breath of the Earth’ concerts hit Milan!The first weeks of August pamper us with many cultural events by the ‘Culture of the Spirit’ collective – creative souls who believe in art that opens the heart, creates joy and harmony, and brings forth inner peace and growth. Come and enjoy the Kumbha concert at the Cascina Triulza stage at the Expo on August 4th, make the trip to Val Borbera’s Festival of the Spirit on August 8th and 9th, or join us to experience Breath of the Earth at Castello Sforzesco on August 11th! Also, you can find Sahaja Yoga’s Feel Your Spirit stand from July 27th to August 9th at the Civil Society Pavillion Cascina Triulza – come look for us and learn more about meditation and thoughtless awareness – always free of charge! | KUMBHA – CULTURE OF THE SPIRIT FESTIVAL AUGUST 8TH & 9TH ALBERA LIGURE (AL) (Val Borbera, Piemonte) The Culture of the Spirit Festival is an international festival dedicated to integration and inner peace. Musicians and dancers from the East and the West will celebrate together the “energy for life” which is present in nature and within all human beings. The festival is a two-day event and runs on several stages. The program will feature, among others: INDIALUCIA, a ‘band of brothers’ from India and Europe, who combine the rhythms and musical traditions of India and Spain into an astonishing tapestry of sound, leading the audience on a unique musical journey. Sahaj Sufi Qawwalis by Anandita Basu & band, her deep and soulful voice praising the absolute according to the Sahaj Sufi tradition. All the way from India’s ‘music capital’ Nagpur, Guruji Prabhakar Dhakde, Sandesh Popatkar and Avaneendra Sheolikar will transport the listeners to another realm with their rendering of Indian classical music. Returning audience favorites include Val Borbera’s very own Vilamba, Norway’s singer-songwriter duo Santa Cecilia, Ukraine’s jazzy zen fusion Heavenly River as well as Kuchipudi dancer Siddhi Bhasale, accordionist Didier Lamothe, saxophone player Ruslan Pashinsky and the World Percussion Ensemble lead by Damiano Stabile! Val Borbera is off the A7 highway between Milan and Genova. Exit at Arquata Scrivia and drive towards Albera Ligure (localitĂ Chiappeti). KUMBHA GOES EXPO AUGUST 4TH 20.30-23.00 Cascina Triulza at MILAN EXPO As a’preview¨ for the festival weekend, Kumbha will come all the way to the Expo! Many of the soloists and bands will show a glimpse of the beauty and variety of musical cultures and traditions present at the Culture of the Spirit Festival the following weekend, in Val Borbera. The soaring voice of a Qawwali singer from the Sufi tradition; the thrilling pulse of Flamenco music; the melodic sweetness of Hindustani ragas; the swirling beauty of Indian Kuchipudi dance and the deep emotions of singer-songwriters from around the world are creatively combined in Kumbha – a jar representing the womb of the Mother bearing the divine nectar – grace and joy pouring out to all human beings. Artists from all around the world gather for this celebration of art in its most joyful and joy-giving form. As a special treat to the audience, a short introduction of the Sahaja Yoga meditation technique will be shared for everyone to experience. Sahaja Yoga is an easy technique to reach the state of yoga (union) in which we can experience ‘thoughtless awareness’, a natural inner silence that fills us with peace, joy and serenity. Without the activity of our mind and thought processes distracting us, we can feel we are at one with the whole world and all other human beings. Sahaja Yoga was introduced by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011) and is taught free of charge and practiced by multitudes in over 100 countries all over the world. BREATH OF THE EARTH AUGUST 11TH CASTELLO SFORZESCO A unique cultural experience celebrating thelife energy of our planet and within us, coming to you at the prestigious Castello Sforzesco, in the heart of Milan! Breath of the Earth is a one-of-a-kind event, a tapestry of rhythm, music, theatre, poems and songs, spanning East and West; a celebration of the energy of our mother Earth, the nurturer of all forms of life, and her reflection within us. From the fiery overture to its serene conclusion, Breath of the Earth reveals a path through nature’s elements, toward self-realization and peaceful coexistence on earth. With a symphony orchestra and world-renowned soloists, singers and composers on stage, this is an unforgettable extravaganza not to miss! Introducing the Divine Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with l’Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi. A Theatre of Eternal Values production featuring, among many others: Rachelle Jeanty, Sunny Levi, Tim Bruce, Monia GIovannangeli and Victor Vertunni.
